As a Retired LCSW, RPT-S, and APT Approved Provider in Play Therapy and practicing predominantly Sand Therapy for more than 20 years, I have witnessed how miniatures of all kinds can be used for deep personal expression in adults and children.

Miniatures are truly an investment and I try to pass on the lowest price possible for you. As you purchase miniatures for your practice, wherever you get them, bear in mind the therapeutic value they will have for your client(s) even though your client may not chose it right away. Eventually, each one will be used in a meaningful ways. While your selection(s) and collections grow, many will be collectible and increase in dollar value later on. But the biggest value is in the client's use and tool for expression in the sand or out!

Sandtray miniatures allow for the expression or a story to be told where words are not available; it may be unsayable. Offering abundant miniature symbolic objects assists clients in telling experiences/stories in the sand. (Not a client sandtray image.)

Words are not always necessary for the language of expression, especially for children. Therefore, words are not necessary for Sand Therapy. Miniature images, symbols, and figures can be used as expression to create scenes, worlds, patterns, or a dramatic play process. This gives expression to non-verbal emotional issues in a contained space where one can experience control and safety.

Sand Therapy is an expressive play therapy method that can be utilized by all ages and groups to express something or "tell a story." Sand has been used for centuries in art and healing rituals by Indigenous Peoples and other cultures. Sand is of the earth. It reconnects and grounds an individual in a way that is not possible by any other media. If you have spent time at the beach, you have possibly experienced digging and building; maybe watched children doing this. Often this is reported as calming and sometimes people have satisfying feelings. There is a healing effect sand has in its quality.
